Prudence Davis was born in San Francisco, California,
Earth. Her mother and father had been married for nearly
seven years and they lived in this area for nearly three
years. Young Prudence was a rather forceful child, she
learned rather quickly how to acquire items that she in
fact wanted.
At the age of three, Prudence was accepted into a
high-level pre-school that began to shape her growing
mind. She was a quick study and had acquired a rather
high reading level for someone of her age.
When the young Betazoid/Platonian girl turned five
things started to go terribly wrong. Patricia Davis had
used a firm hand in discipline her young stubborn child.
However, Prue had begun to develop telekinetic abilities
that were common to the Platonian species. The addition
of these abilities caused young Davis to get out of
hand. In order to get what she wanted, she would abuse
this gift. Because of this, Patricia and Jonathon began
to seek out a Doctor.
After three years Doctor Hector Faller met with the
Davis family. He ran extensive series of tests on young
Prudence with regards to these troublesome abilities.
Doctor Faller determined that these abilities would
eventually be too much for the young hybrid due to her
joint genetic make-up. Because of this, it was decided
that Prue’s telekinetic abilities would be permanently
removed.
The series of surgeries required to remove these
abilities were less than easy. Prudence had to go
through a series of tests in order to determine if one
procedure had succeeded. Finally, after five months, her
telekinetic abilities were fully removed. According to
her medical records, she will never be able to
re-develop these abilities.
Prudence enrolled back in school and began to excel. Her
personality started to change a bit, she was forceful
but she listened to people, something she was not use to
doing. A year after her procedure Davis began to develop
empathic abilities, common to the hybrid Betazoid
culture. Her mother, Patricia, aided young Prue in
controlling these abilities.
With Primary and Secondary Schooling complete Prudence
Davis applied to admittance into Starfleet Academy. She
was accepted and began to take classes that she felt
were general knowledge. Prue did not know what she
wanted to fully do with her life; she did know that she
wanted to serve in Starfleet helping others. However,
once she entered the Academy others viewed Prudence as
stuck-up and would rarely speak with her. This type of
isolation caused Davis to change her outlook on this new
life and changed herself a bit. She became more open at
the Academy, which allowed others to warm up to her.
The young woman declared her major in the medical field
during her second year at the Academy. At this time, she
began to take the basic pre-med courses in order to be
accepted into Starfleet Medical a year earlier than a
regular Cadet would. Her knowledge on various subjects
aided her in the completion of these courses.
Prudence continued to do rather well in the Academy. She
had been accepted into Starfleet Medical Academy during
her fourth year as a Cadet. Davis decided to take
courses at Starfleet Medical as well as Starfleet
Academy, in a joint effort. During her time at Starfleet
Academy she met a young man named Andrew Patterson, her
eventual husband.
Prudence graduated from Starfleet Medical three years
after this meeting. Andrew, her fiancée, had been
serving aboard the USS Madison in the Operations
Department. Due to Davis’s rather good scores she
requested assignment aboard the Madison and was assigned
to her as a Medical Officer, where she served for one
year.
During her tenure on the USS Madison Prudence learned a
great deal about Starfleet life. She did not expect
working on a Starship to be so time consuming. During a
few missions Davis had helped her department in many
ways. She was eventually promoted to Lieutenant Junior
Grade as well as married aboard the USS Madison, her
first real home.
Following these events Prudence was transferred to the
USS McMahn, a Galaxy Class Vessel, as Senior Medical
Officer. She did not want to leave her now husband,
Andrew Patterson, but she knew that this opportunity was
one she could not decline.
Prudence discovered that she was pregnant once she
reached the USS McMahn. This was a strange phenomenon
for the young Betazoid/Platonian hybrid. She had no wish
to become a mother, but with this news she decided that
this pregnancy did in fact happen for a reason. Once she
gave birth to her young daughter, named Piper Patterson,
she continued her duties aboard the McMahn. She was
promoted to Chief Medical Officer aboard this vessel as
well as the ranks of Lieutenant and Lieutenant
Commander.
Also during this time Patterson decided to divorce her
husband, Andrew. The long distance relationship did not
seem to work for Prudence nor was it working for Andrew.
Once this divorce took place, Patricia moved aboard the
McMahn where she helped Prudence care for young Piper as
a ‘nanny’ of shorts.
Prudence had been offered the Second Officer position
aboard the USS McMahn and accepted it whole-heartedly.
This allowed the now Lieutenant Commander to serve as a
Command Staff member, which would lead to training to
eventually become an Executive Officer, the position she
had always hoped to attain.
Unfortunately, a Starfleet Officer’s position is never
set in stone. Prudence Davis-Patterson was informed with
the rest of the McMahn crew that their vessel was going
to be decommissioned. There was no reason given behind
this strange turn of events but it was not her place to
question these things. She was transferred to Starbase
21, where she started off as a Senior Medical
Technician.
Prudence was eventually promoted to the Chief Medical
Officer position, where she upheld a rather strict and
tough code. The Medical Department aboard a Starbase had
to run with a tight leash due to the officers and
civilians that came in and out everyday.
The Betazoid/Platonian woman was informed a year later
that she had been chosen to take the Executive Officer
position aboard the USS Sharikahr. Prudence had to think
about taking this position due to the changes her family
would have to endure. However, she decided to take this
position and moved to the Sharikahr, with her mother and
daughter.
Prudence enjoyed her work aboard the USS Sharikahr a
great deal. During her first mission as Executive
Officer she was ordered to take charge of the ship while
the Commanding Officer went undercover by himself. This
placed Patterson in the big chair rather quickly.
Eventually, she learned her role as Executive Officer
and fulfilled her duties well in that capacity.
During Patterson’s final mission aboard the Sharikahr
she had a strange encounter with a telepathic woman… or
group of people. Prudence lost her empathic abilities to
do an overload, caused by this woman. This loss was
rather difficult for the Betazoid/Platonian hybrid, but
she started to cope with this loss, with the hopes that
it may one day come back.
During Prudence’s rehabilitation she was informed by
Starfleet Command that she was being reassigned to the
USS Hayden. Patterson questioned these orders until she
was informed that she would take over the rein as
Commanding Officer. This was a shock to the woman, but
she decided to take on this challenge.
After serving as Commanding Officer of the Hayden for
nearly six months Prudence was transferred to Starfleet
Command where she was asked to take on the position as
Sector Commander for a few vessels, including one of her
old ships, the USS Sharikahr. Prudence accepted this
position and began her duties immediately. However, due
to a medical event she was forced to be placed in
medical stasis.
After several months in stasis the problem was resolved
and Prudence was granted her old position back.
